MAKE YOUR OWN ARCHITECTURE FANZINE

On the occasion of the ARCHIZINES exhibition at Otrascosas de Villar-Rosàs (12th April – 4th May 2012), the on-going activities program eme3_ON launches a complementary workshop for anyone interested in producing their own architecture fanzine.

Thematic will be totally open, as long as they turn around architecture and urbanism. Possible examples of topics to be treated are the role of the architect in current societies, exploring alternatives to formalism, erasing a debate on iconic architecture, analyzing informal architecture and/or gathering spontaneous reactions in front of emergencies.

Participants will be encouraged to edit their own Fanzine of Architecture, being able to choose the format, the topic and the means and resources to publish their idea.

Under the direction of the architecture critic and Publisher Ethel Baraona and the architect Francesco Vedovato, the workshop will be held the following 21st April 2012 in AAABarcelona (www.aaabarcelona.net – Gran Vía de las Corts Catalanes 694, Barcelona)

The results will be presented during an event at AAABarcelona the 25th April at 19h30 and the 3 best projects will be awarded during this event, together with a cocktail and music.

The workshop is part of a parallel program to the exhibition of Archizines in the gallery “Otrascosas de Villar-Rosàs” (www.otrascosasdevillarrosas.com) in Barcelona, which will start next 12th April to 4th May 2012.

The ARCHIZINES project celebrates and promotes the recent resurgence of alternative and independent architectural publishing from around the world. Curated by Elias Redstone, and initiated in collaboration with the Architectural Association School of Architecture, the touring exhibition features 60 architecture magazines, fanzines and journals from over 20 countries. Edited by architects, artists and students, these publications provide new platforms for commentary, criticism and research into the spaces we inhabit and the practice of architecture. They make an important and often radical addition to architectural discourse and demonstrate the residual love of the printed word and paper page in the digital age (www.archizines.com).
